THE PRACTICE. THE PERSPECTIVE.
About the artist.
Gerry Sikazwe is a Zambian poet, blogger and literary promoter who took part in Hurungwe Arts Festival in 2019. His work connects poetry on the page with live readings and the development of literary communities.
His writing has appeared in print and online publications including Nthanda Review, AfricanWriter.com, Tipton Poetry Journal, Times of Zambia, Scarlet Leaf Review and the Best New African Poets 2018 anthology. His contributions also include The Zimbabwe We Want anthology and the UBA Zambia Poetry Contest 2017.
Alongside his page poetry, Gerry shared his verses at events around Lusaka. By 2019, he co-curated Word Smash Poetry, a monthly poetry gathering at Global Platform Zambia. His creative-writing enterprise, Nib Hub Zambia, worked to strengthen Zambian writing, while his literary journal, New Ink Review, provided another space for creative voices.
His poetry collection, Words That Matter, was published by Mwanaka Media and Publishing in Zimbabwe.
