Madiz

Madiz, born Itayi Madzikura, is a Zimbabwean musician associated with rhumba and the album Kazevezeve. His musical interests developed through a school choir and marimba ensemble, while dance led him to join the group The Return after school. He later formed the church youth group Joyful Repenters, bringing music and dance together. A 2004 collaboration with Nasty Tricks on Kupinda Newe was followed by recordings including Chimoko Chidanger and Amina. The latter reached audiences beyond Zimbabwe and received a 2005 ZIMA nomination. Kazevezeve followed in 2006. By 2019, his career had included collaborations with Botswana’s Slizer and Zimbabwean musician Kudzi Nyakudya, a 2014 tour of British cities, and the 2018 release Chamhamha.
